  • Trust vs. Mistrust

    Trust vs. Mistrust
    On 23 March 1950, Phillip, a six month old, has been showing signs of trust by knowing that he is safe with others if his parents are with him rather than freaking out and revealing any fear.
    In Erikson's first stage, Trust vs Mistrust, a 0-18 month old child will develop a sense of either trust or mistrust based on the consistency of care for them. The result of this stage will influence the child's relationships and trust felt with others later on in life as they get older.
  • Intimacy vs Isolation

    Intimacy vs Isolation
    On 14 July 1975, Phillip, a 25 year old male, married the love of his life, Rebecca. They did this because they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and be cared for by another that cares about them.
    In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy vs isolation, they are deciding on becoming emotionally close and intimate with another in a committed relationship or withhold and not let others know them or get close to them. This resulted in intimacy being the choice for both Phillip and Rebecca.
  • Ego Integrity vs Despair

    Ego Integrity vs Despair
    On 19 October 2020, Phillip is at the hospital with his wife of 45 years. She is in bad condition but Phillip expresses how happy and content he is with his life that he has spent with her, ending with the fact the he would do the same thing over if given another chance at life.
    Individuals in Erikson's eighth stage, Ego Integrity vs Despair, are 65+ and reflecting back on their life as complete and satisfied or are dissatisfied and develop despair. Phillip has ego integrity and is satisfied.
