Infancy
Quinn(age 2) is taken from her parents due to malnutrition and neglect. In Erikson's first stage, trust vs mistrust, the crisis is the inability to develop a sense of basic trust in the world. -
Toddlerhood
Quinn(age 3) is now in an adoptive home. She is beginning to observe her own body, but is punished as her new parents see this as dirty or taboo. In Erikson's second stage, autonomy vs shame and doubt, the crisis is that she now feels wrong for being curious about how her body works. -
Post-Partum
Quinn had a baby 3 months ago, she is working through her new identity as a mother and scared to admit to her partner, James, that she might be experiencing post-partum depression. In Erikson's sixth stage, intimacy vs isolation, the crisis is her inability to admit her dark feelings, therefore isolating/alienating herself from both her partner and their baby.
