  • Industry vs Inferiority

    A. March 22, 1994
    B. Keyshawn (age 10) doesn't make the cut for her schools soccer team. Her stepmother, Alisha, discourages Keyshawn about her athletic abilities and states that she shouldn't try out for any other sports.
    C. In Erikson's fourth stage, Industry vs Inferiority.
    D. The crisis of developing a sense of confidence by being encouraged to improve our abilities, or doubting one's abilities by being discouraged by parents, teachers, peers, etc.
  • Identity vs Confusion

    A. April 14, 2000
    B. While her friends and peers are preparing for college entrance exams and applications, Keyshawn is unsure of what to do after graduation since she doesn't have a strong sense of her passions or talents.
    C. Erikson's fifth stage, Identity vs Confusion.
    D. The crisis is receiving positive reinforcement to develop stronger feelings of independence and control in terms of future plans, or not receiving positive reinforcement which confusion about oneself and their future.
  • Intimacy vs Isolation

    A. August 16, 2010
    B. Keyshawn's insecurities that developed in her childhood and adolescence have caused her to maintain unhealthy habits in her dating life. She fears sharing vulnerability and authenticity with a partner since she hasn't developed a strong sense of self.
    C. Erikson's sixth stage, Intimacy vs Isolation
    D. The crisis is maintaining committed and enduring relationships due to a strong sense of self or fearing commitment and intimacy.
