Luna, new born baby girl.
Rose and Eli are brand new parents to a baby girl named Luna. When Rose and Eli are with Luna they don't pay that much attention to her. In Erikson's first stage, trust vs. mistrust, the crisis between developing a healthy trust worthy bond with a guardian/caregiver or not. If Rose and Eli payed attention to Luna she would develop a sense of trust and be ready for future mental development, but since she's being raised in mistrust--that puts Luna at a disadvantage early on in life. -
Luna's 2nd birthday
Luna is a toddler now and is developing. Rose and Eli try to let Luna have a little autonomy, try to let her make some choices on her own. The hard part for Rose and Eli is to not punish Luna for some of her choices. Erikson's second stage of development, autonomy vs. shame and doubt, the crisis is between trying not to restrict and punish Luna for making some choices on her own. If they restrict too much, then Luna might grow up feeling doubtful/shameful about the choices she makes. -
Luna's playdate
Luna is growing up and now she can plan activities, such as playdates, with her friends. Her parents are very encouraging of her planning these playdates with her little friends. But often her parents start to discourage her when she gets unruly with her friends. Erikson's 3rd stage of development, initiative vs guilt, the crisis is how to find the balance between letting Luna feel capable in planning activities and not try to restrict her and try not to make her feel guilty. -
Luna's homeschooling
Luna is 10 years old and her mother, Rose, has been homeschooling her. Her parents wanted to make sure that she gets a good education; one that they want for her--promoting that learning is fun and confidence. Erikson's 4th stage of development, initiative vs inferiority, the crisis is between making sure that Luna likes learning and masters the knowledge and skills she needs to know to prosper in the world and not mastering those skills. Being unsuccessful will not benefit Luna.
