    JERRY'S LIFE

  • ADOPTION INFANCY

As an infant, Jerry was given up for adoption. He was finally adopted at 18 months of age. However, Jerry was placed in 3 different homes prior to going to his forever home. As a young child, Jerry cried a lot, especially when meeting new people. The lack of trust from being placed in three different homes at an early age did not afford him the ability to trust adults.
  • Adolescence

Jerry excelled in sports; however, during the championship baseball playoff, Jerry missed a ball. Jerry was frustrated and wanted to quit. However, his teammates surrounded him with encouraging words and cheering him on when he turned to bat again. Because of Jerry's social relationships with his teammates, his belief in himself jumped. He made a home run. This allowed Jerry to continue to build upon his identity and sense of self-worth.
  • Young Adulthood

While in college, Jerry met the love of his life, Maria. After college,0 they were married. His intimate relationship with Maria helped Jerry fight off his propensity to isolate himself. Although Jerry's earlier years were rocky, he chose intimacy over isolation.
