    This law initiated by William Penn said that for every five trees cut down, one would be preserved. This would guaruntee that Pennsylvania would never run out of trees for wood and oxygen use.

  • Georgia vs.Tennessee Copper and Ducktown Sulpher

    Georgia vs.Tennessee Copper and Ducktown Sulpher
    Georgia sued Tennessee Copper and Ducktown Sulpher companies for gasses crossing the Georgia border and polluting forsest/killing wildlife. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Georgia and the two companies had to regulate the gasses before they crossed the border. This was the start of controlling toxious fumes from polluting the enviroment and helped get people aware of the problem.

    In 1926, Utah was the first state to conduct a large scale survey of air pollution. Specifically Salt Lake City. This event marks the beginning of the U.S's fight against air pollution.
  • Emergency Conservation Work Act

    Emergency Conservation Work Act
    This act, initiated by Franklin D. Roosevelt one year after elected to his first term, created the Civilian Conservation Corps(C.C.C), also known as Roosevelt's Tree Army. The group was formed to protect against different forms of pollution in the enviroment. This was another large step in controlling the destruction of the enviroment.

    This treaty, signed by 46 countries including the U.S and former Soviet Union, stated that the dumping of nuclear waste on the continent of Antarctica was prohibited. This treaty helped save hundreds of Antarctic organisms from massive deaths in their populations.

    On this date, Rachel Carson published Silent Spring, a book warning the dangers of pesticides on the enviroment. From that point on, the U.S has been creating more ways to prevent the use of pesticides and more ways to encourage the use of organic ways to save crops from insects that destroy them.

    The Endangered Species Act initiated the production of the Endangered Species List, helping preserve wildlife from extiction. Therefore, thousands of different species will still be around for generations to come, helping to keep the food chain in tact.
