Brief Discription: Pennsylvania colony governor William Penn ordered colonists to conserve one tree for every five cut down.
Historical Signifigance:saved the amount of trees we remove. (cut down)
Impact:Now we have more trees and a better environment for our animals. -
The Lacey Act
Brief Description:The Lacey Act prohibited the transport of illegally obtained wildlife across state lines,and outlawed hunting in Yellowstone, National Park.
Historical Signifigance:saved close to distinct animals from disappearing.
Impact:Now no one can illegally transport aniamals or any type of wildlife -
Salt Lake City Air Pollution
Brief Description:Salt lake city was the first U.S city to conduct a large scale survey of air pollution.
Historical Signifigance:It was important because it showed us that the environment was getting worse due to air pollution.
Impact:now we realized theres a real problem with air pollution, and we tried hard to fix it . -
Bald Eagle Preservation
Brief Description:Congress passed the Bald Eagle Preservation Act to prevent the extinction of the national symbol. The bald eagle was removed from the endangered species list in 2007.
Historical Signifigance:It is important because it tried to stop the extinction of any animal
Impact:it saved an important animal from distinction and now it is off the endangered charts. -
Water Quality Act
Brief Description:President Johnson signed the Water Quality Act to strengthen federal water pollution laws and outline water quality guidelines for states.
Historical Signifigance:People can’t waste a lot of water now and it stops some pollution in water
Impact:We have a lot more safe water. -
Pollution Free Car
Brief Description:general motors president Edward Cole promised Americans “pollution free” cars
Historical Signifigance:It made pollution less and less dangerous.
Impact:it helped are problem because cars were one of the biggest problems (regarding pollution) -
Endangered Species Project
Brief Description:Congress passed the end Endangered species act to protect what are known as Endangered species from possible extinction.
Historical Signifigance:It helped the endangered species who are close to getting instinct, to stay alive.
Impact:we have more animals in our environment because of the endangered species project. -
Alaska National Interest Land Conversation Act
Brief Description:Congress passed the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, designating over 100 million acres of parks, wildlife refuges, and wilderness areas throughout the state.
Historical Signifigance: Created parks and some of the biggest parks in the world
Impact:preserved land, keep water clean, stop some pollution -
Global Warming Warning
Brief Description:NASA warned congress of the effects of global warming.
Historical Signifigance:helped us with our problems of global warming.
Impact:now we realize the danger of global warming. -
David Chain Killed by Falling Tree
Brief Description:David Chain was killed by a tree felled by foresters while protesting in a forest to protect the destruction of old-growth redwood trees.
Historical Signifigance: helped us make the redwood trees area safer.
Impact:Now the redwood areas are more safe and not much incidents happen. -
Blue Marble Photo
Brief Description:NASA released the “Blue Marble” photo of earth from space, giving Americans a first ‘outside’ look at their planet. The photo helped raise awareness of environmental issues.
Historical Signifigance:People saw what we have been living on for millions of years.
