Bob was hit by one bullet in the sternum and the bicep, and one hit his wife, Rita, in the head. Luckily neither of them were injured severely. It was said that the gunmen were from the JLP who were rivals of the Peoples Nation Party. Bob played a show just two days after the assassination attempt.

    In July 1977 Bob was getting treated for one of his toes that had been injured some time earlier the same year and they had discovered cancerous cells in it. His doctors wanted Bob to get the toe amputated. However, he refused because his religious beliefs did not allow amputation. He also denied it because Bob loved to dance and play soccer and without his big toe neither of these actions could’ve been performed as normal.
