Travel Loan Paid Off
Age 21, Thet and Nyein pay off their travel loan from the US government using money they earned from their jobs at JBS in Greeley. -
Jacob Born
Age 22, Thet and Nyein have their first child, a son. He was named after Jacob in the Bible who was the father of the nation of Israel. -
Green Card Issued
Age 22, After having lived in the United States for one year, Thet and Nyein are issued a Permanent Resident Card, or Green Card. -
Ruth Born
Age 23, Thet and Nyein have their second child, a daughter. She is named after Ruth from the Bible story of Ruth and Naomi. -
American Citizenship
Age 27, Thet and Nyein take their Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America, officially becoming US citizens, and ending their journey as refugees.
