Certificate of Secondary Education CSE
CSE were introduced to divide academic and non academic students. This would further sub-divide groups of GCE and CSE in comprehensive. And those capable of CSE and not in secondary modern schools. It allowed school based curriculum development. -

Grant Maintained Schools (GMS) introduced allowing primary and secondary school to leave the control of the LEA National Curriculum introduced as where KS with specific learning outcomes by a particular stage -
Children Act 1989
The Children Act 1989 allocated duties to local authorities, courts, parents and other agencies in the United Kingdom, to ensure children are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted. It centres on the idea that children are best cared for within their own families; however, it also makes provisions for instances when parents and families do not co-operate with statutory bodies. -
Elton Report 1989
Produced due to contemporary disquiet about indiscipline and bullying in schools Although focused on behaviour and discipline, the report included recommendations regarding trainee teachers and higher education tutors, affirming that 'schools have an important part to play in preparing trainee teachers to manage their classes effectively'. good behaviour in schools is the shared responsibility of government, local authorities, voluntary bodies, governors, head teachers, teachers and parents; -
Education Student Loans Act 1990
This allowed for the payment of loans to students in higher education, which would in turn cut down the payment of grants by government. -

Year 2s were made to take SATs, I still remember taking that test, it was horrible. -

Study Pharmacy at the University of Wolverhampton
Began my study at university for Pharmacy, flew through the first year nice and easily. Personal problems prevented me from performing as well in the second year -

I took part in the SAS scheme, in order to confirm for myself whether or not teaching was for me, and it was. -
Left studies for 3 years and worked
During this time period I worked in many places. Worked in alternative provisions for about 3 academic years. To build up experience working with EBD pupils Worked for the Office for national statistics as a Census Collector Worked with Royal Mail and TNT (worst job ever) -
Return to University of Wolverhampton
With the prospects of tuition fee rising to £9,000 I hurried back into education with a new target, get a degree in order to do a PGCE. I once again found myself at the University of Wolverhampton this time studying Human Biology, partly to recompense against my abissmal C grade at A-level -
