  • 9/11 & War on Terror

    The largest attack against Americans on home soil since Pearl Harbor happened on September 11th, 2001. Terrorists from the middle east flew two planes into the World Trade Center. This then led to invasions in countries where the attackers had operated in.
  • War in Iraq begins

    The war in Iraq sent roughly 130,000 US troops and others to take the city of Baghdad. This was the first step in the war in the middle east.
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina
    A very powerful category 5 storm in the Atlantic ocean. It caused billions of dollars in damage, mainly in the city of New Orleans. Over 1,000 people perished in the crazy weather event.

    This act led to the US government bailing out failing major banks and financial institutions. This led to an attempted avoidance of the collapse of the economy
  • 2008 presidential election

    One of the most pivotal elections in the 2000's, president Barack Obama was elected into office. He was a younger democrat who pushed social reform. He also pushed for many policies such as Obama care which helped out struggling American citizens.
  • Killing of Trayvon Martin

    A young, innocent black man was shot late at night by a neighborhood watch man. This highly controversial acquittal led to protests and unrest across America
  • Boston Marathon bombing

    Boston Marathon bombing
    One of the most recent terrorist attacks in US history, an Islamic terrorist and his brother blew up bombs at the finish line of the marathon. A few people were killed, but hundreds injured.
  • Hawaii becomes the first state to raise the legal smoking age to 21

    Hawaii raised the legal smoking age to 21 years old in 2015. This was significant and was the foundation for other nicotine bans around the country.

    This plan of action was to reduce the stockpile of uranium that Iran had. The US was fearful of nuclear retaliation, so they tried to reduce and control the nuclear program in Iran

    Donald Trump won the 2016 election with his running mate Mike Pence as VP. This led to an era of misinformation and mistakes. This event caused civil unrest for many Americans who could not believe that he won the election

    This event led to multiple deaths not only in Canada, but the US as well. This was one of the first heat waves that is now a new normal in some states in America
  • Covid-19 global outbreak

    One of the most significant events of the 21st century, the virus covid-19 infected millions and led to thousands of deaths. Lockdowns were in place and many people lost their jobs or went homeless
  • January 6 United States Capitol attack

    This attack on the capitol by supporters of Donald Trump were unprecedented. Trump lost the election, and some of his voters and others stormed the capitol in protest. Many are now in jail and there were a few deaths
  • Trump assassination attempt

    Former president Trump was in the middle of a campaign rally when shots fired out. Trump was hit in the ear and not killed. The shooter posted up on a roof with a rifle, but was killed shortly after firing his weapon.
