Emmeline Pankhurst was born on June 15, 1856 in Manchester, but she had always said she had been born one day ago. She was the daughter of a businessman named Robert Gouldan with radical political ideas. Emmeline was the largest of five sisters. Legancy
The news of the death of Emmeline was announced throughout the country. After the funeral, one of the bodyguards of Prankhurst, began to raise funds for a statue in his honor. In the spring of 1930, it was begun to build this statue in the gardens of the Victoria Tower. At their inauguration, they were the former prime minister and a multitude of radicals. -
Women's social and political union
In 1903, Prankurst believed that the speeches that parliament members did about feminism had not progressed. That is why she decided to create the one that was the main organization to campaign for female suffrage in the United Kingdom between 1903 and 1917. The Women's Social Welfare Union was founded at the Pankhurst family home in Manchester on 1903 for six women including Emmeline and Christabel, her daughter. -

First World War
In August of 1914 began the First Word War.
Emmeline thought that the Germany's threat was a danger by all de humanity. When men were at war, Emmeline asked to the rest of women to work in the industries and in the farms. -
WSPU
After the war, woman could vote under some rules. Not like men. But in 1919 and thanks to the women's political party, WSPU, the women were able to vote like men. -
Illness and death
Emmeline Pankhurst died in London in tuesday 14 oF June in 1928, at the age of 69 years. Her death was caused of her health, her health was deteriorated , because of many strikes hunger and imprisonments. she is buried in the cemetery of brompton. On March 3, 1930, his statue was finished. -

Emmeline started to read so young. Her parents wanted a good education for their sons. But with their daughters were different. They wished a good wedding for them. Her parents, like most peopleat that time, thought that me'n were best.
