Lincoln annocnces ten percent plan

The Ten Percent Plan was a plan that stated that, a state could be readmitted if 10 percent of its voters swore a loyalty oath which was the pledge of allegence.

Oct 17, 1864

Lincoln Vetoes Wade-Davis Bill

The Wade-Davis Bill stated that voters had to take an "Iron Clad" Oath of allegence. This means that it required all the states to accept the end of slavery and grant all African-American men the right to vote.

Loncoln Re-Elected

When Abraham Lincoln was re-elected many people in the confederacy were disapionted with the new election. Lincoln had beat McClellan and worked to put the US back together

Congress creates Freedman's Bureau

This lets all former slaves become freed poeple or people that can act as others or poeple that can act as the whites

Lee Surrenders at Appomattox Court House - Civil War Ends

This is when Robert E. Lee surrenders giving the cofederate states to the union and ending the Civil War.

Lincoln assassinated; Johnson becomes President

The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was at a theater when he had took his wife to go to see a comedy play. John Wilkes (The assassin) had known the play and waited untill the funny part when he knew everyone would laugh and then killed Abe. After this happened Wilkes jumped off the ledge and ran with the flag of the United states cought on his spur.

Mississippi enacts first Black Code

Mississippi enacts black Codes which meant that if any black man were to just be outside they could be arrested and also that they had no voting rights with no properties of guns and made back into slaves if they had no jobs.

13th Amendment approved and ratified by congress

The 13th Amendment had abolished slavery and involutionary servitude, except for punishment and crime

Johnson declares reconstruction complete

On this day President Johnson states to the public that reconstruction is now complete

This provides citizenship to all poeple born in the United States

Ulysses S. Grant elected

Grant came to the white house with the respect of everyone but not from the election ut from winning the war. Many people had believed that he was a great leader for the Union army so the wanted him to run teh country to show even more leadership from his position
