Emma’s Identity Timeline

  • I was born!

  • My sister was born!

    I was so excited to become a big sister! My sister and I are still best friends.
  • Started playing saxophone

    This was important because it created a life long love and appreciation for music, especially jazz.
  • My brother was born!

    I was thirteen when my brother was born, so this is when I fell in love with taking care of little kids. He was the first baby I ever took care of.
  • My grandma passed away

    This was a significant point in my life because it was the first time I lost someone close to me. My Granma and I were very close and my family still mourns her loss.
  • I got into college!

    I was so excited to broaden my horizons and go away to college
  • Got Engaged!

    My now-husband asked me to marry him after six months of dating.
  • My first time failing a class

    This was a huge turning point. I loved college, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do and I needed to evaluate my mental health. This led to a break from school that ended up being so good for me.
  • Started work with infants at the YMCA

    Made me fall in love with working with children even more!
  • Got married!

    Married my amazing husband in a small, spontaneous ceremony in my parents’ back yard.
  • Had a baby!

    Gave birth to my beautiful, amazing daughter and this inspired me to ge track to school so I could give her the best life possible
  • Went back to school!

    I returned to UVM to finish up my degree
