The laws were meant to punish the massachusetts colonists for there defiance in the Tea Party protest. Laws where passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party. -
The First Continental Congress
To get back at the Boston tea party the parliament denied an offer from some colonial leaders to pay for the tea that got dumped in the Boston harbor
Instead of accepting the offer, a parliament passed a group of new strict laws
One law allowed Britain to house troops wherever and whenever they wanted
One law closed Boston harbor for trades until the tea spill are paid off
