Alexander Graham Bell
Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847, & throughout his life, he was a very successful man. He is most known for inventing the telephone in 1876. But before that, in 1872 Bell founded a school for deaf-mutes in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1875 he filed his first patent for telegraphy, & in 1867 the first complete sentence was transmitted. Then, in 1877 Bell formed Bell Telephone Company to operate local telephone exchange operation. (cont. pt 2) -

Bell then invented the photophone in 1880, & lastly, formed American Telephone & Telegraph Company to operate the long distance network. Clearly, Bell was a man of many talents, & also a very successful, smart, & hardworking inventor.

Cash Register
In 1879, James Ritty created the cash register in Dayton, Ohio. Ritty nicknamed his invention the "Incorruptible Cashier". When a transaction was made, a bell on the cash register rand, & the amount was noted on a large dial on the front of the machine. Each sale was marked by a paper tape with holes punched in it. This helped so that the merchant could keep track of how many sales they had per day. This was only the start of the cash register. -

Mass-Produced Camera
In 1888, George Eastman created a camera that was mass produced. The this easy to use camera was made by Eastman, because he wanted to make photography "as convenient as a pencil". The keys to George Eastman's success in making photography a popular leisure-time activity for the masses were his development of roll film & the inexpensive box camera. This camera was mass produced throughout the USA. -

Will Keith Kellogg
Will Keith Kellogg was born on April 7, 1860, in Battle Creek Michigan. Kellogg was known for his invention of Corn Flakes.The development of the ‘cereal flakes’ was an accident while make digestible bread in the Battle Creek Sanitarium. Kellogg discovered his cereal flakes in the process of searching for a vegetarian diet while working as a clerk at the Battle Creek Sanitarium. His brother (John) mismade a batch of digestible bread-substitute, & when rolled, they only formed a large thin flake. -
Will Keith Kellogg (pt 2)
Will persuaded his brother to serve them as flakes, & they were a hit to all the patients at the Sanitarium. The cereal flakes became such a hit, that Will started a mail-order business called the Sanitas Food Company, in order to distribute his corn flakes. Today we can still find Kellogg's corn flakes in stores, along with the Kellogg's food brand that sells cereals, cookies, crackers, toaster pastries, cereal-bars, fruit-flavored snacks, frozen waffles, & vegetarian foods.
