    In 1862, Emily had a difficult time due to her friends being in stressful, and different situations. Charles Wadsworth moved to San Fransisco, California to be in the Calvary Church. T.W. Higginson left to be in the Union Army.

    In the period from 1874 to 1882, Emily Dickinson was in mourning. Her father died in 1874, two of her closest friends in 1878 and 1881, They were Charles Wadsworth, her mother in 1882, and her nephew in 1883. She never left the house that now was hers.
  • Emily get's told of her sickness

    On this day, Emily had her first sign of terminal illness. For the following year and a half, she would be restricted to a bed in the very same house she'd lived in her entire life.

    Emily Dickson died at the age of 55 from Bright’s disease, which is caused by kidney failure. Her doctor suggested that the amount of stress throughout her life contributed to her death. Emily Dickson died on May 15, 1886.
