After 2 days of discussion and debate, 68 women and 32 men sign a Declaration of Sentiments, which outlines grievances and sets the agenda for the women's rights movement. This causes hope and happiness for the women because they are starting to see the change they want start happening.

All of these colored women come together to discuss their idea's and thought about the treatment they are getting and form a bond to stick together.

States also took responsibility for training teachers by setting up teacher-training schools. The main purpose for public education was political; giving more people a right to vote created a need for better-educated voters.

In 1879, Edison discovered that a carbon filament in an oxygen-free bulb glowed but did not burn up for 40 hours. Edison eventually produced a bulb that could glow for over 1500 hours.

Subways and streetcars allowed people, even the working class, to attend not only amusement parks, but also atheltic games and dance halls.
