First Music Training
She started her music career at a young age and first started taking music lessons from Arif Sami Toker at the age of 13. He is considered the most famous and talented artist trained by Toker. He continued his music education by taking lessons from Münir Nurettin Selçuk for three years. -
Career Path
After graduating from Gazi Turhan Bey Secondary School and Çapa Anatolian Teacher High School in Uzunköprü, she took lessons for three years at Istanbul University State Conservatory Beşiktaş Voice Department from voice teacher Alis Rosenthal, who also taught Münir Nurettin Selçuk in France. Meanwhile, in the competition opened by Hürriyet News Agency, she was chosen as the 'Queen of Voice' by reading a classical work by Münir Nurettin Selçuk. -
Acting Career
She transferred to Istanbul Radio and settled in Istanbul. Emel Sayın, who entered an intense working period after going to Istanbul, starred in movies as well as many music albums. The artist, who started his artistic career by going to Istanbul and signing his first studio album, Sus Sus Sus, started his artistic career with three separate records consisting of two singles, by signing the works Gel Gel Gele and Doyamadım Sana in the same year, in 1971. -
Her Music Career
In 1972, the artist released his album consisting of ten Turkish classical music songs called The Ten Most Popular Songs of the Last Decade, and the album broke a record by selling nearly 100 thousand copies. The song in this album also has the feature of being the soundtrack of various Turkish films. The album was released by Istanbul Plak and was published with a red background cover, with the name of the artist's painting on the front cover. -
Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Prize
Emel Sayın, who celebrated her 60th anniversary in 2023, received her award in the field of music from President Erdoğan at the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards ceremony. After receiving her award, Emel Sayın said, "I am very happy to receive this award on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. I am proud and honored as an artist who has devoted 60 years to art."
