  • The Big Move From NH to NC

The Big Move From NH to NC
In December 2009, my family and I packed all our stuff in Somersworth, New Hampshire and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. I have moved around a lot while I was in New Hampshire but this move was essentially a drastic change of my childhood. Moving to a new state meant a whole new environment. Going to a school meant trying to find new friends, catching up on whatever material they're on, and also no more snow!
  • My Cousin Moves to NC

    My Cousin Moves to NC
In 2012, my cousin from NH moved to Charlotte with my family. This was super exciting for me because I didn't have many friends in North Carolina, especially Indonesian friends/family. I was super close to her in New Hampshire, and we were able to rekindle our friendship when she moved down here with us!

  • Moving to A New School (again)

Moving to A New School (again)
In February 2015, I moved to Harding University High School. While I was so used to moving schools frequently, moving to Harding was actually a decision that benefited me because this was the age where I started to open up more in class and to peers at school. Attending Harding is also what led me to grow in my passion for working with underrepresented communities. Attending a Title I school is also what leads me to why I also want to work at a Title I school.

  • First in Family To Attend College

First in Family To Attend College
2018 was a year of new beginnings! I graduated high school and was ready to embark on my new journey as a first-generation college student. Growing up, it never really occurred in my mind that I would be the first, but I realize now how important it is and I see why my parents continue to push me to do as best as I can. August 2018 was the start of my first year at NC State, where I got to experience so many new things! Being away from family and starting this new independence was a big mark.

  • Personal Growth

    Personal Growth
While 2021 is still new, I feel like I've grown so much as a person mentally and spiritually in the last 2 months. Our break was well needed for me to take a step back and reflect on who I am as a person and what I want to become. I started implementing healthy habits into my routines and worked on coping strategies to develop a more positive mindset. This is definitely a key point in my life because I've struggled with confidence throughout my life and it is safe to say that I am growing in it!
