Licoln's 10 Percent Plan
Licoln's 10 percent plan stated that 10% of the 1860 vote count from that state had taken an oath of allegiance to the U.S. and pledged to accept by emancipation(equality) . -
Freedman's Bureau is established.
The Freedmans Bureau was able to give legal food and housing, education and health care to former slaves. -
The assassination of United States President Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated in America, at the play Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. Abe and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln attended. Licoln was shot, he died the next morning. -
Andrew Johnsons Plan
Andrew was the 17th president following Abe's assassination, Johnson had a plan. Johnson plan made the radicals happy, it was his "Amnesty Proclamation" it basicly insisited all rebellion should be punished. -
Literacy Test
A Literacy Test, tested the citizens literacy potential. It required any black wanting to vote to read or write if they failed they could not vote. -
Thirteen Admendment is ratified.
The thirteenth admendment was the first of the Reconstruction Amendments. The admendment had abolished (put to an end) slavery and continue to forbid slavery. -

Sharecropping is a system of agriculture in which a landowner allows a person to use the land in return for a share of the crop produced on the land. -
Alaska Purchase
The Alaska Purchase was the take over of the alaska territory by the U.S from Russia, it was gained 586,412 square miles of new U.S land. -
Grandfather Clauses
When citizens didnt pass a Literacy Test, they could depend on a Grandfather Clause. A Grandfather Clause was if your father or grandfather voted, then you could vote. It didnt really work for African Americans, they didnt have a father or grandfather who could vote because they were never free at the time. -
The Fourteenth Admendment
The 14th Amendment was apart of the Reconstruction Admendments and it protected the rights of African Americans. The admendment forbided the states form denying rights of citizens which basicly meant everyone was equal. -
Klu Kulx Klan begins
The Klu Kluz Klan were radical members of Congress that tried to destroy the power that the whites had over structure of the Rebel states. -
Ulysses S. Grant
Ulysses was our 18th President, and was the first president to be elected after the nation had stopped slavery amd gave citizenship to african americans. -
The Fifteenth Amendment
The Fifteenth Admendment prohibits goverments of the U.S from denying a citizen to vote, over their Race or Color. -
Election of 1876
Leaders wanted a new canadidate, Republicans nominated Rutherford B. Hayes and most democrats nominated Samuel J. Tilden. Tilden triumphed over Hayes. -
Compromise of 1877
The Compromise said that Southern Democrats would notice Hayes as President, but made sure Republicans would meet a some demands. In exchange democrats would have to except hayes presidancy and accept black rights. -
Poll Tax
A poll tax was a tax you had to pay in order to vote, most southerners had no money because they had been former slaves. Which soon led to poll tax riots,
