Eliza goes upstate and Alexander begins an affair
Eliza took her four kids upstate to visit her family while Alexander stayed back in New York to finish a plan under Washington's request. That is when he met 23 year old Maria Reynolds, who fabricated a lie with her husband to make Alexander sleep with her and pay her husband money. The affair lasted a year. -

Oldest child of Alexander and Eliza tragically died at 19 in a duel with 34 year old George Eacker. Eacker had slandered Alexander's name and Philip did not take it well, challenging Eacker to a duel in Weehawken, NJ. Philip would die in that duel. -

Two years after Philip's untimely demise, Eliza lost her husband of 25 years to a duel with Aaron Burr. Eliza sat beside Alexander as he died, but did not attend the funeral. She sat in the dark with Philip the Second and sobbed. -
A life without Alexander
Almost two years after the death of her husband, Eliza attempted to carry on. She founded a group called The Orphan Asylum Society. So while caring for seven kids, she took in orphans to give them a home. She began working on the building for her vision, making it the first private orphanage. And after 215+ years her orphanage is still up and running. -
Best of Wives and Best of Women
Eliza Schuyler Hamilton passed at the age of 97 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She spent those 50 years without Alexander spreading his legacy, fighting slavery, and opening her orphanage. -
Eliza's story is told
In 2015, Lin Manuel Miranda produced his musical "Hamilton." Not focusing on just Alexander, but telling Eliza's story and allowing her own legacy to be told. This is important to add to show that Eliza's name was not washed under her husband's and she is just more than Alexander Hamilton's wife.
