Wilson and his family cross the plains, and settle in Grantsville Utah, just south of Great Salt Lake.(Wilson Driggs 1) -
Goes to live with the Shoshone indians.
Wilson is bribed by the indians with a pinto pony to go live with them. He is adopted by Chief Washakie's mother. He was only twelve at that time. (Wilson and Driggs 11) -
Returns home to his white family.
A rumor was spreading about Wilson, that his family thought he had been kidnapped, and were going to attack the indians. In an effort to resolve this, they sent Wilson home, telling him that he could return once it was resolved. (Wilson and Driggs 112-127) -
Indian mother dies.
Wilson's indian mother, searched for a long time to find her white son, and even went to stay with wilson's white mother. Wilson was injured with a head wound from an arrow, and could not return. Soon after, his indian mother gives up hope, and returns to her people. When Wilson tries to find her, he find out that she died about 3 years after he left. (Wilson and Driggs 192-193) -
Pony Express
Wilson joins the pony express. (Wilson and Driggs 141) -
Wilson gets shot.
Wilson gets into a fight with some indians who are trying to steal his horses. He gets shot in the head with an arrow. The two men with him assumed he would die, and left to get help to bury him, but when they returned he wasn't dead. They took him to safety, where and got the arrow removed, and he eventually recovered. (Wilson and Driggs 147-148) -

Wilson fell in love with a young girl who had helped his mother nurse him back to health. They had planned to get married, but her parents didn't want them to, and soon convinced the girl to marry someone else. (Wilson and Driggs 176-177) -
Trapping with an indian
Wilson befriends an indian who helps him trap, and provide for his family.(Wilson and Driggs 197) -
Wilson gets stranded.
Wilson and his partners were traveling to fort Stanbow with butter eggs and chickens. A bunch of indians stole their horses, and left them stranded. Wilson and his parnters had invested a lot of money into these parishable goods, and were not sure what to do. Soon after, and old man and young boy showed up, and lent them their hore and mules. Wilson and his partners chased after the indians and rescued their horses.(Wilson and Driggs 207-216) -
Jackson's Hole Indian War
The Jackson's Hole Indian war broke out, and Wilson was asked to act as an interpreter for the indians. Wilson felt sorry for the indians, and thought it was terrible how things ended for the indians. (Wilson and Driggs 216- 217) -
