Thaddeus Cahill first patented his new instrument. This was the first of three he would build. The instrument transmitted electric sound over wires to telephone recievers that them emittd the sound. -
The Wurlizter was Invented
Following the telharmonium, this mighty instrument combined many instruments and sounds into one device. This was widley used in movie theaters as sound effects. -
Theremin was Invented
Leon Theremin created his first theremin using vaccum tubes and radio electronics. This instrument produced sound without ever being touched. -
Ondes Martenot is Invented
Invented by Frenchman Maurice Martenot, this instrument was similar to a theremin. However, the instrument allowed the user to have greater control over the pitch. -
Magnetic tape was invented
Magnetic tape was kept a secret for many years due to political tensions and World War 2. The rest of the world did not know of its existance until the end of World War 2. -
Hammond Organ was Invented
American inventor Laurens Hammond invented the Organ using a design similar to the Telharmonium, yet was much smaller than the Telharmonium due to vaccum tubes. It was widly popular for at home use. -
Paul Hindemith Records with Turntables
Paul produced his song called Trickaufnahme using two tunrtables to change the speed of xylophone and cello recordings. This was one of the first songs that used turntables to manipulate sound. -
Pierre Shaeffer and Pierre Henry create the first electric song

Illiac Suite for String Quartet was created by the Illiac computer Once the computer generated the music, it was manually written out in traditional notation and then performed by human musicians. -
