The Fax
A Scottish inventor and watchmaker named Alexander Bain patented the first fax machine on May 27, 1843, thirty-three years before Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone.
It took a few decades for the invention to have any meaningful use. A commercial fax service (called "pantelegrafos") was opened between the French cities of Paris and Lyon in 1865, but the faxes were not so successful until 1906, when the newspapers began to add photographs. -
