Equal education
Brown vs. the Board of Education A unanimous vote approved for equal opportunities for all kids to get an equal education no matter what color their skin was. (Kaplan & Ownings, 2015, P.151) -
Special education
Congress passed the ARC act to support the education and training of special education teachers. Special education teachers fought for the right of their students to be educated along with their peers. (Kaplan & Owings, 2015, p.158) -
No child left behind
Elementary and secondary education act. Led by president Johnson was established to help those students that lived in poverty. The federal head start program was also established to ensure that poverty stricken kids have access to education to help kids develop in cognitive and social development to help them get ready for school. (Kaplan & Ownings, 2015, P.163) -
Common core standards
The testing brought student data to the schools to show teachers, principles and their parents where students are at and what they need to continue to work on. This shows where kids are and what they need to improve on. It also shows what areas the school needs to work on more or offer kids an intervention. (Kaplan & Owings, 2015, P.163)
