  • Child Study Movement

    Child Study Movement
Led by Stanley Hall, this was the first step in teaching educators how to teach students in a natural way versus a subject centered approach. This movement gave students more opportunities for growth in other areas besides the core subjects. It opened opportunities like art, music, and physical education.
  • Brown V. Board of Education

    Brown V. Board of Education
The case was a pivotal step not only in education but also in society. Schools were no longer segregated. Every student no matter their race should be given the same opportunity to be prepared for further education or the workforce.
  • PL 94-142 Law

    PL 94-142 Law
Every child, including those with disabilities should be given an appropriate education. The lives of children with disabilities were revolutionized from separation in schools to inclusion. This would help children with disabilities get out into the workforce instead of being segregated from the rest of the world.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
All children should receive not just an education, but a quality education. Teachers and schools are now held accountable for the standards they set in their classroom. Academic success is important for every child and this gives students the support they need to be successful.
  • Common Core Standards

    Common Core Standards
Common Core Standards gives educators a clear guideline on subjects to prepare students for college and the workforce. It holds teachers accountable for what they are teaching. If students get to college and are unprepared they are not going to do as well and may drop out. The same is true for the workforce; if someone is unprepared they may get fired.
