After running up a $2,000 gambling debt while at college, Poe gets into an argument with his foster father when John Allan refuses to give him money to settle the debt. Poe ditches college and the Allans. He moves to Baltimore to join relatives there. -

In 1839 Edgar got a job as an editor at Burton's Gentleman's Magazine, a job he holds until June 1840. -
Editing again
Poe begins as an editor at Graham's Magazine, where he works until May 1842. The magazine runs Poe's short story "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," -
Government job
Edgar went to the white house to talk to the president about a government, but edgar was really drunk when he went, so the presidents son told him to come back another time, so he did, but he didnt get the job. -
Virginia gets TB
His wife virginia gets diagnosed with TB, and has a strong fight for 5 years then she dies. -
Engagement
Poe proposes to a poet named Sarah Helen Whitman, but later calls it off. -
Engaged again
Poe travels to Richmond and convinces his childhood sweetheart, Elmira Royster Shelton, to become his fiancée -
Death
Edgar had traveled to Baltimore, and was found in a gutter, and taken to the hospital, and eventually dies. Nobody knows exactly what happened.
