European Fishing
-Before French Regime
-European boats would come to North America for fishing
-Fish was important in the catholique religion because you weren't allowed to eat meat on friday.
-After catching the fish they would dry, salt or smoke them and then bring the fish back to Europe -
French Regime

-Economy based of the fur trade.

Alliances with the Amerindians
-The French alligned with certain Amerindian groups.
-They would help fight their battles and vice versa.
-The French would trade things with the Amerindians like alchohol and weapons for furs. -

-Because the conditions for worker were so bad.

World War 1
-Canadians were forced to fight.
-Conscription Crisis.
-The need for women to work cause more rights for women.
-Women were allowed to vote on behalf of their husbands. -
The Great Depression
-People were buying shares in companies on borrowed money
-When debts were called in the stocks plummeted because people couldn't pay them.
-Black Thursday: Stocks dropped below zero.
-Many commited suicide.
-Families bought as little as possible.

World War 2
-Canadians were not forced to fight, it was optional.
-It got Canada out of their depression.
-Created many jobs because army's needed products like guns and tanks.
-Womens rights improved. -
The Quiet Revolution
-Began with the electoral defeat of the Union Nationale by Jean Lesage and his Liberal Party.
-Begining of Welfare state.
-To make the Quebec gov’t the major force behind Quebec's social and economic.
-To modernize Quebec's educational system.
-To weaken the influence of the church. -
Oil Crisis
-Led to a recession and the Disengagement of the State.
-Many government companies were privatised.
