Although factories were being built in both the north and south, the majority of all industrial manufacturing took place in the north. The south would still highly rely on agriculture as both the north and south did previously. -
Transcontinental Railroad
Linked the railraids from the east to west coast. This began to revolutionized the population and economy on the west coast. -
The steel industry
From 1875 until the early 1900's the steel industry had grew substantially from about 400,000 tons anually to about 60million. The name Andrew Carnegie dominated the steel industry with the likes of companies such as U.S. Steel and Bethlehem Steel. -
Telephone
In 1876 the telephone was invented by Alexander Grahm Bell. This invention allowed quick communication to one another from their homes. -
Auto industry
The 1890's saw a mass production of domestic automobiles created in America. -
Oil industry
Oil becomes the dominant fuel in the United States with the discovery of oil feilds across the west. -
Immagration
Immagration from Europe and Asia to America allowed for big industries to afford very cheap labor. -
World War I
America enters a World War. Upon the ending of this war majority of the population found themselves unemployed which lead to the great depression. -
Common electricity
After WWI, in the 1920's power grid electricity was becoming popular in homes and businesses with General Electric dominating the industry. -
Radio "the golden age"
AM radiobroadcasting allowed for business to advertise to consumers directly to their households. -
World War II
With the rise of WW2 America got out of it's great depression. The offered millions of jobs to include males in the military and females working in factories back in America. -
Television
Television had finally made it to over 50% of the households in America by the mid 1950's. Business immediately utilized television for visually marketing to consumers directly to them at their home. -
Personal Computer
IBM introduces computers to the public. Within the next 20 years technology will allow for computers to be built smaller and faster. -
Mp3 player
File sharing p2p music economically changes how consumers interacted with music. -
Cell phones
About 1/3 of American population were using cell phones to communicate without the hassle of being confined to where the land phone is. -
Ipod
Apple creeates the ipod which destroys all other mp3 producers. -
Internet
Connected people and business together from anywhere. The internet changed the way we live today with every aspect. -
Laptops
Laptops allowed people to work and address business matters or personal matters from anywhere. -
Iphone 1
The iphone completely changed how conumsered interacted with eachother and businesses. Everything can be done with the click of a button. -
