-Jean Talon tried to diversify the economy but failed since there was just too much demand for the old fur trade. -

-Lots of Rural Exodus where farmers and agricultural workers would move to the city an work in factories.
-These factories were in terrible conditions; polluted, overcrowded, long hours of work.
-The steam engine was invented and that powered a lot of the factory machines. -

-This phase was all about finding new territory to expand industrialization.
-At first electricity was made by burning coal and soon the people invented hydroelectricity.

-There was a conscription crisis; men were forced to fight.
-French didn't want to fight because they didn't think it was their war to fight.
-Womens rights improve; Ex) Take their husbands place in voting since they are at war. -

-People are poor and dying.
-Ends when WW2 starts because the building of ammunition and such helps the economy. -

-Consisted of Quebec catching up with the rest of the world.
