Bella has lost Jacob. In his own words, “Yeah, I miss you too. A lot. Doesn’t change anything. Sorry.” Bella misses Jacob so much, but knows he doesn’t want to see her, what with the rivalry between him and Edward. Edward wants to marry Bella, but she doesn’t want to be that girl that gets married fresh out of high school, so she is trying to deter him. He says if she wants him to turn her into a vampire, then she needs to marry him first, and maybe go to college. -
Pages 1-92 Chapters 1-4 total: 92
Bella’s dad releases her from being grounded on one condition- she needs to spend time with Jacob. Bella is fine with that, but Edward isn’t. Meanwhile, the Cullen’s are suspicious of the mass killings happening in Seattle, thinking it is the work of vampires, maybe newborns. Alice has a strange vision but Edward refuses to tell Bella what it was. Edward rushes to get Bella away, and the two of them go to visit Bella’s mother in Florida. -

Once they get back, Jacob calls, worried that Bella had been turned. Jacob then visits at her school to talk to Edward. Edward is pressured into telling Bella that Victoria had returned, and that was Alice’s vision. -
Pages 92- 196 Chapters 4-9 total: 196
Bella was worried that she would be killed by Victoria (as revenge). She desperately wants the Cullen’s to change her sooner rather than later. Edward leaves to go hunt and Bella rushes down to La Push to see Jacob. Jacob tells her about Victoria’s visit and near capture. Jacob also tells Bella that more and more La Push kids were changing to werewolves. He accidentally reveals that he isn’t aging, and Bella flips because she seems like the only one getting older every day, and she is. -
Pages 92- 196 Chapters 4-9 total: 196
Bella needs to go, but promises to come back. Edward meets her and shows how anxious he was. Next time Edward leaves, Alice kidnaps Bella for the weekend. Rosalie shares her life story with Bella, and why she would give anything to be human. The next day at school, Jacob jail breaks Bella on his motorcycle, and she goes to La Push and accidentally lets it slip that she will be changed after graduation. -

Jacob says he would rather she die. She goes back and sees Edward, and he tells her that she is right and its okay with him if she visits Jacob. -

Bella goes back to Charlie’s house. Jacob had called, begging for forgiveness. Bella huffily goes upstairs and realizes her room has been all changed and some things taken. She assumes Alice took the things. Edward says that no, a vampire had secretly visited and taken her things (clothes, etc.). It is not a scent he knows. Bella decides to forgive Jacob, and Edward tells Jacob to come pick up the scent in Bella’s room in order to help protect her. -

Jacob and Bella have a tense conversation about graduation and the changing that will come. Edward continues to try and get more time with human Bella. Edward also tells Bella that the Cullen’s think the Seattle issue is a group of newborns. Edward also sends Bella to La Push for the bonfire and for protection. -

Bella spends time in La Push and hears the Quilete “legends” again, but knows they are true this time. Later, Alice tells Bella that she will be throwing a graduation party. Bella realizes she isn’t ready to be changed, but she feels like she has to in order to defend herself. Edward doesn’t want her to be changed with the pressure and fear hanging over head- he wants her to voluntarily choose this path. -

Jasper reveals his life story to Bella- all about his involvement in the newborn wars of the South, and then he shares that he believes that what is happening in Seattle is a newborn army. The Cullens decide to fight. -
Pages 310- 410 Chapters 14-19 total: 410
Alice still wants to go on with the party, even with the impending doom of the fight with the newborns that she has foreseen. Bella wants to be changed so that she can be helpful, but the Cullens know that they cannot make her helpful in a week. Edward goes hunting and Bella stays in La Push for safety. Jacob tells Bella he loves her and he tries to kiss her. She punches him and breaks her hand. Later on, Bella realizes that she DOES love Jacob, at least a part of her. -
Pages 310- 410 Chapters 14-19 total: 410
Bella worries about the newborn years. Finally, graduation. Alice brings her a new outfit, but Bella realizes that whoever stole her clothing did so in order to get the scent and lead the newborn army to her. Alice and Bella are worried, but Alice disguises her thoughts from Edward until after graduation. They all go to the party, stressed and worried. -
Pages 310- 410 Chapters 14-19 total: 410
The wolves come as well and learn about the issue and vow to help fight the army coming for Bella. Bella shares her suspicion that Victoria is involved, but Edward says that is not possible. The Cullens and the wolves meet to train. The wolves watch the way the vampires fight, trying to learn the best way to defeat the newborns. A weird alliance is formed between the vampires and wolves. -
Pages 410- 531 Chapters 19-24 total 531
Bella guilts Edward into staying with her rather than helping his family fight. He eventually agrees, albeit reluctantly and after a lot of underhand pleading and begging from Bella. Alice convinces Charlie to let Bella stay the weekend with her. Bella is worried for everyone, but no one else seems to see the danger that she does. The night before the fight, Bella finally agrees to marry Edward, against her better judgment. -
Pages 410- 531 Chapters 19-24 total 531
The next day, Bella, Seth, Edward, and Jacob head far into the mountains, expecting a cold snow storm to blow in. Jacob and Bella talk, and Jacob and Edward fight. Then Jacob finds out that Bella and Edward are getting married and so Bella kisses him passionately to make him promise to stay alive and this is when she realizes she loves him AND Edward.
