Founded
The East Jordan Iron Works is founded in East Jordan Michigan by William Malpass and his fathe in law Richard Round. It was built to service the logging industry of Northern Michigan. -
Fire
The foundry is destroyed by fire before being rebuilt by bricks made in the city of East Jordan Mi. -
The Lumber Industry Dies Off
During the 1920's the lumber industry begins to diminish forcing the Iron Works to begin to shift their focus elsewhere. Employees begin to work less hours to avoid lay offs. -
Change of leadership
In the 1920s and 30s William E. gradually transferred management to his three sons, William Henry "Will" Malpass, Richard Ward "Dick" Malpass, and Theodore Edward "Ted" Malpass. -
World War 2
By the start of World War 2 lumbering has moved out of the area forcing the Iron Works to shift its production to screet castings, water works valves and fire hydrants as well war materials such as tank parts. -
The Third Generation
Will's son, W.E. "Bill" Malpass, and Ted's son, F. Bruce Malpass take over. -
Automation
Factory becomes automated with then-state-of-the-art Taccone Automatic Molding System -
The Fourth Generation
By the mid 80's the business has been led by the fourth generation: Fred Malpass, son of Bill Malpass, and Tracy and Tad Malpass, sons of F. Bruce Malpass -
Ardmore Location Opens
Second Iron Works foundry located in Ardmore Oklahoma opens for operation. -
Award
The Iron Works receives the National Utility Contractors Association Associate of the year award.
