    This was the day that Anschluss was formed between Germany and Austria. Anschluss meaning union. Due to the fact that Hitler was born in Austria this union was a little bit more easy to conduct on Hitler's behalf. Hitler wasn’t on the same page with everybody on the democrats, the rise of pro nazism in Austria gave the opportunity for Hitler to make his move. Kurt von Schuschnigg wanted a greater Nazi presence in Austria. He appointed a pro nazi police chief. He then releases nazi prisoners.

    This was an greement between Germany and Slovakia. The reason why the meeting was put to place was to talk about the Sudetenland. The document was signed by germany italy france and UK. They all wanted control and were disscussing whi got control.

    Hitler insist that the city of danzing should be returned to the country of Germany. Danzing has been part of poland since the first world war.This showed that war was unavoidable to germant by France and Britian. Later in the month of may hitler tell troops to get ready and invade.

    The germans propose a nonaggression treaty to the soviets and they agree. Stalin wanted USSR safe without entering into any war. This was shocking due to the fact that stalins beliefs didnt really match the befliefs of the germans due to the fact that they were polar opposites. France knew why hitler formed war so that hitler would be protected in case France or England were to attack.

    This happened exactly 2 days after France and England declared war on Germany. The polish resisted the Germans for sometime but the Germans were simply too powerful.There new warfare called blitzkrieg was simply to elite and too much for the polish army to handle so eventually they lost.

    The French and British had declared war on Germany but remained very defensive during the invasion of poland. The british went to France for support but the germans went right around by invading other countries. The invade france and the british and french armies hurried to belgium. Germany goes through french armies and invades.
  • The Evacuation of Dunkirk

    The Evacuation of Dunkirk
    The Germans had pushed the allied forces to the English Channel. The only hope was to escape by sea but there was only one port available due to the fact the germans have captured the rest of them. The port was Dunkirk. HItler was going to send troops to attack but he cancelled the attack hoping it would end peacefully. They ended up evacuating 338,000 troops.
  • The Battle of Britian

    The Battle of Britian
    On this date Winston delivers a speech with a message saying that Britain will never surrender. The point was to rally up the troops and let the US know of the trouble that Britain is having. Germany wouldn't be successful at invading britian without destroying britians strong air force. They bombed each other and even though the british were outnumbered they had the technology to take Germany down. Eventually the Germans retreated.
