The Munich Conference

Hitler demands Danzig
Hitler demands back Danzig, a part of Poland that used to belong to Germany. Hitler wants to take back control and make it once again a German nations. Hitler demanded several things he knew would make things worse with Poland, including the admittance of Danzig, the building of the German highway and the participation in the anti-comintern pact.

Invasion of Poland
In September 1939 Germany invaded Poland and a couple days later Britain and France declare war with Germany. Poland did not keep up with Germany’s army very well and Germany came up with a new warfare called blitzkrieg. This tactic used large numbers of tanks to break through the front of Poland’s army. The fall of France was also known as the battle of France. During WWII, Germans invaded France and much of the lower countries. This battle lasted from May 10, 1940 to June 25, 1940 and France was defeated.

Evacuation of Dunkirk
After trapping the allies in Belgium, Germany tried to push them to the English Channel. Britain and France had no choice but to evacuate their surviving troops by sea but the Germans captured them at a port called Dunkirk near the Belgium border. As the Germans closed in on Dunkirk Hitler order them to stop out of nowhere and no one knows why. There is some evidence that states Hitler believed Britain would be more willing to accept peace if they didn’t destroy their forces at Dunkirk. June 22, -
Battle of Britain
German airforce, Luftwaffe, attacked british shipping in the English Channel. Come mid August the Luftwaffe and launched all out air battle to destroy the Royal Air Force. This battle lasted into the fall of 1940 and then became the Battle of Britain.
