The pilgrims settled in North Americato escape the Church of England. They lived in Holand for 12 years before coming to America on the boat, the Mayflower. The voyage made it to Plymouth 65 days later. -

On July 4th 1776 the United States of America declared their independence from Great Britain. This started the Revolutionary War. The war ended in 1783 and gave the United States its independence. -

In 1788 the Consitiution was ratified because of the defects in the Aritcles of Confederation. 9 of the 13 states had to sign to make the document. On May 20th, 1790 the U.S. Constitution was made. -

Supreme Court rules against Dred Scott
The case of Dred Scott took place in 1857. The case was if the U.S. Constitution protected slaves. The Supreme Court decided Scott was guilty, considered the worst decision made by the Supreme Court. -
The confederacy is formed Civil War begins
In 1861 the Confederacy is formed and the Civil War begins. Consider the most deadly of all U.S wars. The Confederacy was led by Jefferson Davis. -

In 1865 the Civil War ends with the North winning. It became illeagal to own slaves in the United States. 620,000 Americans died by the end of the Civil War
