  • Probability theory

Carnap studied and helped shape Probability Theory. “Probability as a degree of confirmation. This was an approach supported by Carnap and students of inductive logic. The probability of a statement is the degree of confirmation the empirical evidence gives to the statement” (Murzi). Carnap showed that probability can be statement of fact, rather than just the probability itself.
  • Philosophy of Physics

Carnap’s Philosophy of Physics showed the differences between three types of space theories (Duignan and Hempel). One is Formal, another is Physical and the last is Intuitive. His definition for Formal Space is the logical consequence of a set of axioms (Murzi). Physical space theory means we can only know the structures of natural science by experience (Murzi). Intuitive space theory means the theory is related to intuition (Murzi).
  • The Language of a Scientific Theory

Carnap created a Language of Scientific Theory. He made these symbols of language known as logical and nonlogical terms. Logical terms are symbols, mathematical symbols, number and theoretical. Nonlogical terms according to Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy, they are split into two, observational and theoretical.
