    John Pemberton invented the popular drink, Coca Cola on May 6th, 1866 in Atlanta, Georgia. As Atlanta banned alcohol consumption, John had to change his recipe to remove the alcohol in "French Wine of Coca," creating the popular drink. Today, over 1 billion Coke products are consumed every day.

  • Alexander Graham Bell

    Alexander Graham Bell
    Alexander Graham Bell, an innovator who is specifically famous for inventing the telephone, began living in Boston Massachusetts in 1872. In this year he established a school for the deaf, later thinking of the idea for the telephone in 1874. With the help of investors led by Gardiner Hubbard, Alexander Graham Bell was able to continue and advance his inventions,(including the telephone) which advanced the technology in the U.S. between 1860-1900.
  • Nikola Tesla

    Nikola Tesla
    Nikola Tesla, a successful innovator who is best known for his contributions to the modern AC (alternating current) supply system. Lived in the U.S. from 1884-1943, when he died. He was a physicist, mechanical and electrical engineer, as well as an inventor, which gave him the ability to be a successful inventor. This combined with General Electric and Thomas Edison promoting his most famous invention, (AC) allowed technological advancement in the U.S.
  • Cotton Candy

    Cotton Candy
    William Morrison and John C. Wharton, both candy makers, created cotton candy in 1897 in Nashville, Tennessee. By spinning sugar in a bowl with holes in it, they were able to create the big hit, "Fairy Floss" as they called it. This technological advancement created a fun tasting candy that is in fairs country wide today. Did you know cotton candy is made of almost 99.99 percent of sugar with a dash of food coloring?
