    The birth of Donna Haraway
    She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Her mother, Dorothy Mcguire Haraway, came from an Irish Catholic background. She communicated with Donna the trouble and strength of belief and commitment. Dorthy died from a heart attack when Donna was only 16 years old. Her father, Frank O. Haraway was a sports reporter for The Denver Post who showed her that writing can be both pleasurable and work.

    A Cyborg Manifesto
    Donna wrote an essay called "A Cyborg Manifesto" and published it in 1985 in the Socialist Review. In the essay, she presents the concept of the cyborg representing a rejection of rigid boundaries, notably those separating humans from animals and humans from machines.     1999 Ludwik Fleck Prize
    Haraway was awarded the Society for Social Studies of Science's Ludwik Fleck Prize for her book "Modest_Witness@Second_Millennium.FemaleMan_Meets_OncoMouse". She worked for six years with feminist theorist Lynn Randolph exploring feminism, technoscience, and political consciousness while writing this book.
