A Cyborg Manifesto is published
The essay, "A Cyborg Manifesto" is published to ignite a fire in feminists with the idea that a cyborg is a metaphor for the rejection of societal boundaries. "In the manifesto, Haraway argues that the cyborg-a fusion of animal and machine-trashes the big oppositions between nature and culture, self and world that run through so much of our thought" (Kunzru, 1997).
