    Donna Jeanne Haraway was born on September 6th, 1944, in Denver, Colorado. Her mother Dorothy McGuire Haraway sadly passed away from a heart attack when Donna was only 16, her father Frank O. Haraway was a sportswriter for The Denver Post, and he was her motivation for her love of writing. Donna was taught by nuns her whole life and even though she is not religious anymore, she was strongly influenced by Catholicism.

    Donna attended the Colorado college where she majored in Zoology with minors in Philosophy and English. Once she graduated in 1966, she moved to Paris and studied Evolutionary Philosophy and Geology. She got her Ph.D. in Biology at Yale in 1972.

    One of Donna's major works was an essay she published in 1985 titled "A Cyborg Manifesto". In this essay she explores the relationship between human and technology. She proposes a new vision of the world where humans and machines are integrated into a single entity, and where the boundaries between human and non-human are blurred.

    Donna is now 78 years old a retired professor of history of consciousness and feminist studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Although she is retired, she continues to be an influential voice in academic circles and her work is widely read and cited.
