Dolors before being and activist
In 1933 Dolores moved, with her mom, to California. Her dad stayed behind to become an activist. When she was in school she did the violin, piano, dance, and more. She also was an accomplished writer, but she was discriminated against and even accused of cheating when she was little in school. After high school, she got married, had children, got divorced, and then when to college to become a teacher. -
Dolores's start to activism
In 1955 along with Fred Ross, Dolores Huerta created the Community Service Organization to attempt to stop segregation, discrimination, and more. -
Dolores creates another group
Dolores created the Agricultural Workers Association for non-U.S. immigrants to have driving tests or ballots in spanish. In 1960 she also met Cesar Chaves. -

The big changes made by Dolores
In 1965 after 5 years of hard work the UFW signed an agreement with a number of grape growers to improve conditions for farmworkers. Then in 1970, she started a boycott on lettuce growers. Also, in 1975 she created a passage for the 1975 Agricultural Labor Act. Finally, she worked as the UFW vice-president and co-founded the UfW radio. -

One of the first big steps.
In 1970 Huerta and Cesar got 20 grape growers to sign a contract to give farmworkers better rights. Also, the started their fight against the lettuce owners and helped get the 1975 agricultural rights. -

Dolores's Late life
In 1993 Dolores was awarded the Ellis Island Award, inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame, but this year her good friend Cesar Chavez died. In 1998 she was awarded the Elanor Roosevelt a year before she stepped down from he position in the UFW. In 2002 she received the Puffin/Nation award for creative citizenship and used the money gotten from it to make the Dolores Huerta Foundation.
In 2018 she walk the red carpet and walked onstage with other activists. She is still alive and helping today.
