From March 2019 through the present, Facebook was littered with many conspiracy theories about covid-19 being caused by government and/or the vaccine being a way to cause infertility, reduce population, ruin the economy, etc. -
George Floyd
George Floyd was stopped and arrested by police. One of the officers put his knee on Floyd's neck and Floyd eventually died. Video of the event went viral and many people called for change in policing. All forms of social media via the cell phone video. -
Jan 6 Election Riot
Jan 6, 2021, Donald Trump called for a Take Back America rally. The rally turned violent and protestors stormed the US Capital Building. Twitter was the main method used to spready word about the protest. -
Slap-Gate
During the 2022 Academy Awards, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on the face as a protest against Rock's comments on Smith's wife. The story went viral instantly and people called for social change in male gender norms. All forms of social media were used to send messages about the incident. -
Kyrie Irving Anti-Semitism
Kyrie Irving was suspended from games after he made derogatory comments against Jews. The story went viral on all forms of social media but Instagram was the main social media mover.
