The ALS ice bucket challenge "is an activity involving the pouring of a bucket of ice water over a person's head, either by another person or self-administered, to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and encourage donations to research." The association made 15 million dollars in the first 15 days of the challenge, all because the videos went viral on social media. -

One of the most influential social media campaigns was NASA's #yearinspace campaign on Twitter. An astronaut with a twin brother measured how much he changed compared to his twin while aboard the ISS for a year. -
