January 6th Insurrection
Twitter was used to organize protests, spread disinformation, and mobilize and inspire supporters to storm and infiltrate the United States Capitol building who felt that the presidential election had been "stolen" from the incumbent president. -
Ukraine/Russia Conflict
Twitter and TikTok were used to share viral videos of the war that is taking place in Ukraine. They have also been used to spread information and disinformation and to document the conflict that has now carried on for almost 3 years. Early it was rumored that Zelensky the Ukrainian president had been killed and he used Twitter or X to share a video to prove he was alive and fighting inspiring millions to fight. -
Israel and Hamas Conflict
Both sides of this conflict have used X, Instagram and TikTok to disseminate information, real-time updates and photos from the conflict. Users have also used these platforms to spread awareness and organize protests.
