    This is one of the greatest protest in U.S. history occurring the day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. This movement was to stop the the predatory behavior of males, especially those with power and leadership. The hashtag #MeToo became widely popular over Facebook and Twitter, helping the women's movement to gain momentum. Not only did this bring awareness, but also a large increase in women voters in the 2018 midterm elections.
  • Dress Like A Woman

    Dress Like A Woman
    President Donald Trump was reported telling his staff that they needed to "dress like women." This did not sit well with women all across the nation. On February 2nd, 2017 the movement #DressLikeAWoman was started. Women in all kinds of lifestlyes and careers posted all over twitter what it truly meant to dress like a woman. Which is to dress however you want.
  • The Greta Effect

    The Greta Effect
    In August of 2018 a young Swedish girl by the name of Greta Thunberg held a sign that said "School Strike for Climate" in front of her countries parliament. This picture went viral all over Twitter and Instagram which led to her giving a speech at a UN Climate Action Summit where she criticized world leaders in handling climate change. This speech was all over Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Her actions gave a lot of momentum in get reducing green house gases.
  • Black Lives Matter

    Black Lives Matter
    BLM was started in 2013, but the death of George Floyd created an uprising of protest and awareness that swept the whole nation. The video of his death was uploaded to Facebook, and then circulated to other social media platforms such as instagram and twitter. Twitter was often used as a way to inform of regional protest using the hashtags #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd #BLM and #SayTheirNames
  • Gamestop Revolt

    Gamestop Revolt
    Hedge Funds are known to short sells stock to make millions, and the common people were having enough. Users on subreddit called WallStreetBets got together and decided to start buying GameStop stock to counter act the short selling. This caused these Wall Street "investors" to lose millions of dollars.
