USSR and Nazi Germany end a non-aggression pact; Germany invades poland trigering the second World War. -
Invasion of the Motherland
Germany invades the USSR but is unable to take Moscow and in 1943 the Russian troops launch a counter-offensive allowing them to capture Berlin in May 1945. -
Conference
During the Potsdam and Yalta conferences the USSR and Allies are able to reach an agreement on postwar spheres of influence in Europe. -
China and the USSR
China and the USSR have signed a 30 year alliance treaty and Russia has recognised the Communist government in China. -

Soviets have missles placed and ready to fire in Cuba which scares the U.S. in 1963 the Soviet Union, U.S., and Britain sign a treaty banning atmospheric nuclear tests. -
SALT Acts
In 1972 the U.S. and USSR sign the SALT - 1 arms agreement act and starts the state of detente. In 1979 SALT- 2 act is signed and after the Soviet Union invades Afghanistan the state of detente is officially ended. -

Soviet troops sent to Azerbaijan while following inter-ethnic killings between Armenians and Azeris. Communist Party votes to end one-party rule in Russia. And in September 1991 Congress of Peoples Deputies vote for the disband of the USSR.
