Elementary School - Typing Class
In Elementary School, started in 3rd-5th, I had to take a typing class. We used machines like this because its sole purpose was to teach touch typing. For tests, the typing teacher would put napkins over our hands. I am forever thankful for this class because typing has never been an issue for me since. -
Elementary School (later grades) - Went to computer lab/station for assignments
In Elementary school, we had access to computers and there were 3 in the classroom. It was mainly used for reading comprehension testing. With reports, we had to use our own personal computers for homework. It was at this stage where we started to learn how to use a computer and the internet for assignments. For example, I did a state report on Delaware and had to research via the internet. -
Middle School - Student iPads
In middle school, we had laptops where we could take home. In eighth grade, they transitioned to iPads. I remember in science class we use our iPads to take pictures and draw out our bridge plan. After we made the report, we made it out of popsicle sticks and glue. A class contest was made to see which group bridge could hold up the heaviest weight. -
High School - iPads and Personal Laptops
In high school I had a ipad issued from the school and also a personal computer. I remember taking AP computer science and needed to use my computer back home. So I needed to take my laptop to create different programs for class. Also this was when I started to apply to college and wrote out all my essays on my laptop. This time period felt very tech heavy. -
High School - Video class + journalism
At my high school they had an elective where we made videos on adobe premiere pro. We learned how to study film and made videos for the school. It was great because we were able to use cameras and editing software at the computer lab. I remember making a video trying to promote a school event.
