  • The start of World war 1

The start of World war 1
This is when the world changed with major countries going to war -2
  • Enlistmint for the Candian Armed forces

Enlistmint for the Candian Armed forces
Once the war had started many Black Canadians were eager to serve. But the recruiting officers were unwilling to recruit them due to their skin color. Major General W.G Gwatkin said "In the last extremity we might organize a company or two. But would Candian - make good fighting men? I do not think so."
-2 I gave it a rating of -2 because this is when the discrimination against Black Candian soldiers was at its worst.
  • The formation of the NO.2 construction Battalion

The formation of the NO.2 construction Battalion
The NO.2 construction battalion was formed on July 15, 1916. The NO.2 construction battalion was the biggest all-black battalion in Candian History. The Battalion had approximately 800 men. The Battalion was tasked with labor jobs.
-1 I gave it a -1 because they were pressured to make the battalion and it is a little bit of progress towards equality for Black Candian soldiers.
  • Period: to

    World war 2

The big war with major countries. During this time period, there was major growth in how the Black soldiers were treated. There were no more segregation battalions with thousands of black Canadians enlisting to serve Canada. +1 I gave it a +1 because it was a major gain in the steps towards quality for Black Candian soldiers as they were now finally able to serve without much discrimination from recruiting officers.
  • Destroying the last trails of Discrimination

Destroying the last trails of Discrimination
Almost all recruiting discrimination was eliminated and Black Candian soldiers became more accepted in the armed forces. Only a little bit of discrimination was left in the 50s. +2 I gave the event a 2+ because now Black Candian soldiers are not being discriminated as much anymore with almost all discrimination eliminated and Black soldiers being able to serve in all branches.
  • Present day

    Present day
Nowadays black Canadian soldiers are being treated more equally serving in every branch. +2 I gave it a rating of +2 because now Black soldiers are now being treated equally without anymore discrimination.
