    The discovery of America
    America was discovered in 1492 by a discovorer named Christopher Columbus. He led a group of ships named, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. His original goal was to reach Asia, where he thought he would find riches, but they made it to America instead, and made a much bigger discovery then they originally thought.

    The first U.S. Patent was issued was in 1790. It was issued to William Pollard, a man form Philadelphia. The patent was issued for a machine that spins and roves cotton.

    The first sowing machine was made by a man named Walter Hunt. The sewing machine was a lock-stich machine. Later, another man had a patent for the sowing machine, but Hunt was the one to make the machine.

    The first power tools were made by a man named Thomas Davenport. He made it in Brandon, Vermont, he made a simple electronic motor. He was the first one to make a model railroad car.

    The first dishwasher was made after many fails and tries. Mrs. WA Cockran of Shelbyville, Indiana. She changed many peoples life and made life in the kitchen that much better.

    The zipper was invented by a man named Whitcomb L. Judson, who was an American mechanical engineer. He invented it for the purpose of bringing tow peices of fabrics that could be separated. It was mainly used for trousers, jeans, coats, and bags.

    The first air conditioner was made by a man named Willis H. Carrier. He was an engineer for the Buffalo Forge Company. He later went on to make his own buisness called Carrier Corporation.

    The first airplane was made by the Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilber Wright. They both worked many months and years together on the "flying problem." They finally got to be good pilots because of all their practicing with prototypes and expiriments. They eventually got flight and the first ever, successful air plane in 1903.

    It was not the first ever car made, but it was one of the first affordable cars made in the US. It was know as the Model-T, made by Ford. It was the first massed probucted car, made on an assembly line.

    The first electronic stop light was invented by a policeman name Lester Wire. He invented it in Salt Lake CIty, Utah, in 1912. He made it for the purpose of making trafic safe, without having a poiceman directing traffic all the time.

    The first liquid-fueled rocket was made by a man named Robert H. Goddard. He was a Professor of Physics at Clark University in Worcestor. He launched the rocket at his aunts farm in Massachusetts.

    The first television was made by Philo Farnsworth. He first presented it to potential investors by a simple dollar sign. He had to fight for the patent and he eventually got a piece of the multi-million dollar invention.

    The first laser consisted of a ruby and different lights, the man that made it tried many different crystals. The man that made the first laser was a physicist named Theodore H. Maiman. He worked at the Hughes Research Labratories.

    Neil Armstrong was the first man to step foot on the moon in 1969. The first touchdown was named Apollo 11 and millions watched it happen. The mission was cleared by President John F. Kennedy.
